What Low pH Does to
Your Home & Health
Acidic water is often caused by chemical runoff, contact with decomposing vegetation, or the natural geology of Northern Nevada's well water. Many wells in Dayton, Carson Valley, and rural Lyon County test in the acidic range of 6.0–6.8 pH.
The damage happens slowly and silently, but the effects compound over time:
- Blue-green stains on sinks, tubs, and toilets (copper leaching)
- Pinhole leaks in copper pipes — the #1 cause of home water damage
- Lead, copper, and zinc dissolved into your drinking water
- Hair and clothes taking on a green tint
- Metallic or sour taste in water
- Accelerated corrosion of water heaters and appliances
- Voided warranties on tankless water heaters
The ideal drinking water pH is between 7.0 and 8.5. Our pH neutralizer systems correct acidic well water in the 6.0–6.8 range using calcite media — no chemicals, no salt, easy maintenance.
